Devotion of the Week – Keeping a Calm Mind

I thought this might be fun for us to try; and not only that, but it will allow us to draw closer to God. Every week I will post a challenge for the community based around the Bible. It could be anything from help a random stranger, to telling someone you love them, but this week is all about staying calm and overcoming the temptation to yell or get angry.

The Bible says:

“My dear brothers and sisters, take not of this: everyone should become quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to become angry, because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.” James 1:19-20

So, the next time you feel yourself getting angry; whether its today, or any day in the next week, take a deep breath and remember that the situation may not be as bad as you first believe. In our anger we say things we don’t mean, and we become people we really aren’t. Just trust in God to handle your circumstances, and I have a feeling everything will work out fine.

God bless you!
